Welcome to CHSTV's 2020-2021 Audition Page!

We realize that this audition window opens during a difficult time for all of us, but we feel like the modifications we have made will not compromise our desire to welcome students to the program next year who are ready to continue their broadcast journalism journey at the next level.  Last week, for the 13th time, CHSTV was named "America's Best Daily, Live High School Broadcast.


  • There will be NO investigative video requirement this year.  Instead, you will submit your best story produced during your middle school broadcasting experience.  We prefer that the story you submit be a story that you wrote and voiced.  In other words, you were the reporter.

  • Your Chapman style video will be produced during the next three weeks using whatever equipment you own or borrow.  The prompt is:  "Life on Lockdown.  Is there a silver lining?"  It should be 2 minutes in length.

  • The Sizzle Reel.   Edit a 90-second (or so) highlight video of your best work.  You may (optionally) add music if you like.  This is a montage of your best stuff.  Wow us with what you have created!

Deadline for submission is Sunday, May 10th

Upload your three videos to your YouTube or Vimeo Channel and clearly title them as Chapman, Best Story, and Sizzle Reel.  You will paste your channel URL into the Application Form.


Step-by-Step Application Process

  1. Look over the scoring rubrics linked below.

  2. Begin planning your Chapman video.  The prompt is "Life on Lockdown.  Is there a silver lining?" You will have three weeks to shoot, write, and edit.  We want to see YOU in the Chapman video a little bit, but it also needs to be shot, written and edited by YOU.  The Chapman video length should be 2 minutes.

  3. Gather all of the assets you will need to edit your sizzle reel.

  4. Identify which story you are submitting (where you are the reporter/writer) and upload to your channel.

  5. Fill out and submit the application form (linked below).   Your channel URL needs to be included on the form.
